Clean Your Sauna Products the Right Way

You have received your brand new sauna, installed it in a day and it is now sitting in a room you designated specifically for this purpose. It looks so pretty, so majestic. Its luminescence astounds you. You then realize that in order to enjoy all of this beauty for years to come, you will have to take certain measures to prevent it from ever losing its luster or strength.

The first thing you have to do in worrying about the maintenance process is to not worry too much. When you overthink it, you end up buying too many useless, often expensive cleaning products. A sauna may seem like a colossal and therefore demanding piece of furniture to care for. The truth is that a real, natural sauna enclosure will not ask that much from you.

The only parts of your sauna products that you have to pay attention to are the door handles and the flooring. The surrounding walls fare better with the treatment that they already have. Don’t sand or put varnish on them; this will expose the toxic fumes beneath and it will also make the walls less durable over the years. Once you are done with a sauna session, leave the door open and air out all the hot air or steam. It’s crucial that the moisture in the sauna has the time to dry. The more moisture it retains, the more the walls and floor are prone to molding.

Fill a bucket up with cold water. Take a scrub brush, dip it in the water and quickly run it over everything. This should not take longer than a few minutes. It is not meant to be a thorough washing; it is simply a quick wipe-down. If you find that mold has grown over the next few days, then you can do a more methodical cleaning. Mix some bleach and hot water to zero in on that area.

All in all, you should use your prudent judgment in deciding when it’s time to clean your sauna. It is advised that you clean your sauna products once a week but if you can’t, then just deodorize then give it a cleaning every other week. Also, the benches acquire any splinters after much use, then feel free to sand those down as well. Follow these simple pointers, and you will be able to preserve the pristine condition of your sauna.
